Tears of the Saints

The idea that us people are stuck in a cycle that requires us to constantly change otherwise we whither as a species may well be correct. The idea that technical progress is such that this cycle has begun to spin so quickly we're no longer allowed an idea of place or a sense of permanence so better to adapt than ossify, maybe true.

Things and ideas a person learns to depend upon disappear, they melt away. New ideas and things become antiquated very quickly. The holy becomes profane, the Saints cry. Then one day a person wakes up, he or she is forced to confront the real, reexamine his or her understanding of others. But there is one thing most agree upon, messing with the hour of day twice a year is the last bloody nonsensical straw.
